To mark the start of the Winter Olympics 2010 in Vancouver, we thought we would give you a wee taste of what's been happening on the local slopes here in the Scottish Highlands. This year we have had one of the coldest winters in 30 years, and with it......the best ski-ing/snowboarding conditions for over a decade! : ) Local ski-ing/boarding at both the Cairngorms and the Lecht (images above) have seen bumper crowds over the last two months, and Scottish tourist officials have reported that ski accommodation bookings are up by a staggering 500%!!!!!
With temperatures about to plummet again, and snow forecast on both the Cairngorms and the Lecht for later today, its a perfect time to get booked up for your stay at The Steading- our holiday cottage near Grantown-on-Spey in the Scottish Highlands. The beautiful town of Grantown-on-Spey is exactly 22 miles between the two resorts, and therefore approximately a 25-30 minute drive from The Steading.
